Oh say! can you see by the dawn's arly light; What we proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming, And the rocket red glare the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there: Oh say! does that start-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep the foes haughty host in dread silence reposes: What is that which the breeze o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam in fully glory reflected now shines in the stream:
Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore: That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a country should leave us no more?
